About Us

Financial Management Services (FMS) is a Chartered firm awarded the designation of Chartered Financial Planners by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). This means that we have satisfied rigorous criteria relating to professional qualifications and ethical practice. It means our clients can be confident that they are dealing with one of the UK’s leading independent firms that is committed to providing clients with the best possible advice, service and support.

FMS is run by its four partners; Ron Butler, Peter Collinson, Trevor Rider and Simon Billing. Many of our clients today first became clients with a need to address the tax and financial planning issues faced by the owners of small businesses. As a result we have built up a practice which was predominantly pension related but has now become more balanced as clients require tax-efficient capital investment advice either because they have accumulated wealth from running their business or because they have sold firms successfully.

FMS has not engaged in any active marketing since 1995 and since that time new clients have been taken on through referrals from other clients or their advisers. Each adviser deals with approximately 60 key clients and this allows us to provide the dedicated service essential for effective tax and financial planning.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is that we wish to be a truly independent firm dealing with clients’ money wherever it arises; personally, within their business or within their pension.

We also wish to advise on whichever medium it is decided to invest into, i.e. stocks and shares, cash investments or insurance based products. We have well-developed systems to provide clients with meaningful reporting and a review process whereby investments and wealth can be kept under scrutiny. Because of our approach, we have built up high quality professional connections with stockbrokers, accountants and solicitors.

Our aim has been to build and develop long-term personal relationships with our clients. Our commitment is to provide on-going advice and support throughout all financial changes and challenges that clients may face.
